5 Tips For Planning A Girls Trip

girls trip planning tips

Traveling with girlfriends is one of my favorite things. If you’re planning your own girls trip, here are five things I’ve learned that can help you plan a lovely vacation with your crew.

Set ground rules. The rules should reflect your friend group, but here are three of ours:

Vote on key parts of trip like location, dates and accommodations. The majority wins, but it is equally important to understand why your friends are voting a certain way. For instance, if a friend has a problem with stairs and you’re pitching a three-story home, is that really fair to your friend? Is there a way to compromise so that the trip is fun for everyone?

Choose comfortable accommodations. I can’t stress this enough. Pick accommodations where everyone gets good rest, can access luggage, and can get ready in a timely manner.

If you’re doing roommates, pair wisely. Consider personalities, if someone is a night owl, etc.

Create a spreadsheet for possible activities and allow everyone to contribute ideas. This gives your group one place to store ideas. Discuss ideas a few weeks before the trip and purchase necessary tickets. Google sheets is a free way to do this.

To show how these tips can help you plan, here is a brief summary of a girls trip I did last fall to New York City. There were 11 of us and we had a fabulous time!

We stayed in Midtown at Club Wyndham Midtown 45 and Residence Inn New York Manhattan/Midtown East. They were only a couple of blocks apart and allowed us to accommodate everyone comfortably.

Our together activities were:

For the show we purchased tickets ahead of time.

Activities that we did in smaller groups were:

To share flight information we created a google sheet and coordinated rideshares accordingly.

To communicate before and during the trip we used a GroupMe chat.

Want more info on planning? I’m happy to share :-).

Enjoy your girls trip!
