With boutiques it really is about the experience and the city you\u2019re visiting. I felt like I was in Spain from the time I walked through the gates, plus there was the perk of earning Marriott reward points, :-).<\/p>\n<p>AC Santo Mauro was built in 1894 as the residence for the Duke of Santo Mauro, and it still feels like it is fit for royalty.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/santomauroreview_madrid8.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4650\" src=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/santomauroreview_madrid8.jpg\" alt=\"santomaurophotoandreviewoflobby\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a>From the time you walk through the gates you are surrounded by elaborate and beautiful details. And while the common areas feel like a palace, our room was modern and sleek with all of the comforts you expect.<\/p>\n<p>When we entered our room we were greeted by a hallway that opened up to the living\/sleeping area.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/santomauromadridreview4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4651\" src=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/santomauromadridreview4.jpg\" alt=\"reviewandphotosofguest room Santo Mauro Madrid\" width=\"295\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a>There was a walk-in closet that had plenty of room for me and Hubby\u2019s things.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/santomauroreview2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4653\" src=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/santomauroreview2.jpg\" alt=\"santomauromadridreviewguestroomclosetphoto\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a>The bathroom was well-maintained and stocked with Morton Brown toiletries.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/santomauromadridreview3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4652\" src=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/santomauromadridreview3.jpg\" alt=\"santomauroguestroombathroomreviewwithphotos\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/santomauromadridreview.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4656\" src=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/santomauromadridreview.jpg\" alt=\"AC Santo Mauro review and photos of bathroom\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a>We had a basic <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marriott.com\/hotels\/hotel-rooms\/madma-ac-santo-mauro-autograph-collection\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">guest room<\/a>, so the bed, lounge area and table were in the same space. However, this didn\u2019t make it feel cramped. We were very comfortable.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/santomauro_madrid_review6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4654\" src=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/santomauro_madrid_review6.jpg\" alt=\"santo mauro madridreview\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a>The grounds are beautiful and have a lot of areas that are perfect for strolling, grabbing a drink or hanging out with friends. During our night stroll we saw groups sitting outside enjoying the patio\/garden area and others coming back from an evening on the town.<\/p>\n<p>The staff was very nice and accommodating. We were checked in quickly, they gave us suggestions for things to do and when we called down for extra supplies they were delivered fast. Hubby ordered room service late one night and it was also delivered quickly.<\/p>\n<p>The other great thing about AC Santo Mauro is that it\u2019s walking distance from Puerta del Sol, and the walk is through a vibrant area. It took us about 20 minutes to walk and that\u2019s because we were people-watching and admiring the neighborhood.
