Where we stayed, what we did and where we ate<\/h4>\n<p>Landing in Barbados in the wee hours of the morning is exciting. The humidity of the Caribbean air hugs you, and the energy from other passengers is contagious. We know that in a few hours we&#8217;ll be privy to a beautiful sunrise over some amazingly blue water. And if we&#8217;re really on it, we can view it from our balcony or from the beach&#8230; WITH our tropical juice, :-).<\/p>\n<p>Getting through immigration and customs was a fairly easy process at the airport, and it was very easy to get a cab to the Hilton Barbados. Upon arrival I knew we had chosen a good place to call home for a few days.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4827 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/hiltonbarbados11.jpg\" alt=\"hiltonbarbadosresortpool\" width=\"526\" height=\"347\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>One pool at Hilton Barbados Resort<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4821\" src=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/barbadosinfinitypool_hiltonhotel11.jpg\" alt=\"barbadosinfinitypool_hiltonhotel11\" width=\"576\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Infinity pool at Hilton Barbados Resort<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The grounds were peaceful, with a slight hum of the ocean in the background. Talk about a welcome soundtrack!<\/p>\n<p>The staff was great, too. Very friendly and accommodating.<\/p>\n<p>Our first morning we ate breakfast at the hotel (they have a buffet) and decided on two excursions for our vacation &#8211; a driver to show us the island and horseback riding. The hotel concierge was extremely helpful in setting these up.<\/p>\n<p>When I tell you that Barbados is GORGEOUS, these photos don&#8217;t do it justice&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4825 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/barbadosview2.jpg\" alt=\"barbadosview2\" width=\"558\" height=\"314\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4823\" src=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/barbadosmountainoceanview2.jpg\" alt=\"barbadosmountainoceanview2\" width=\"575\" height=\"324\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4824\" src=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/barbadossheep2.jpg\" alt=\"barbadossheep2\" width=\"598\" height=\"336\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>These animals know how to choose a home&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4828\" src=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/horsebackridingbarbados21.jpg\" alt=\"horsebackridingbarbados21\" width=\"503\" height=\"283\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Horseback riding near the beach<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Now, y&#8217;all know I&#8217;m about my food, and Barbados did not disappoint. Our driver suggested Brown Sugar so we ate there the first night. This is the crabmeat-stuffed fish fillet with seasonal vegetables.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4820\" src=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/barbadosdinnerbrownsugar2.jpg\" alt=\"barbadosdinnerbrownsugar2\" width=\"575\" height=\"384\" \/><\/p>\n<p>O.M.G. It was divine! The green vegetable is christophene.\u00a0 If you ever see it on a menu, order it! Really, take my word.<\/p>\n<p>The next night we went to Oistins where I took the servers suggestion and ordered the blue marlin. When the plate came I couldn&#8217;t believe how much food was on the plate. See how the fish is hanging off the plate?!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4822\" src=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/barbadosmarlindinneroistinsbay2.jpg\" alt=\"barbadosmarlindinneroistinsbay2\" width=\"574\" height=\"336\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I have never had a server bring a second plate because my plate was overflowing. Nope, never.<\/p>\n<p>There are other things you can do in Barbados, too. Snorkeling, kayaking, sightseeing, etc. But above all, make sure you schedule plenty of time to do nothing but enjoy the beautiful blue waters, caribbean breezes and good company. I took a two-hour nap on the beach, and waking up to this view was enough to make me want to do this again.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4826\" src=\"http:\/\/towandalong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/barbadosview31.jpg\" alt=\"barbados long weekend itinerary\" width=\"572\" height=\"336\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re looking for a place to go with friends, for a romantic getaway or even a solo trip, I strongly recommend Barbados, :-).<\/p>\n<p>Happy Travels and enjoy the Caribbean breeze!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>p.s.
