From The Color Purple

Shug: More than anything God love admiration.
Celie: You saying God is vain?
Shug: No, not vain, just wanting to share a good thing. I think it pisses God off when you walk by the color purple in a field and don’t notice it.

Every time I watch this scene in The Color Purple it makes me smile. There is so much goodness in it… two friends walking in a lovely purple field talking about the splendor of God, nature and love.

It’s a reminder that God has provided everything we need, including the random beauty of purple wildflowers.

He has given us these things to appreciate, not to overlook because we are busy with life. Sure, life can get hectic (these two women went through some tragic situations!), but no matter what is going on we need to take the time to appreciate the goodness and abundant beauty around us.

Admiration is truly a great “thank you.”

If you haven’t seen this clip you should run right now to watch The Color Purple. It happens to be my favorite movie and I can’t tell you how much I enjoy it!

But, to give you a point of reference for this post, the first 1.5 minutes of this clip shows the purple field scene. Enjoy!
